The Buvette de Chapeau is one of our favorite snack bars in the valley. It has a great location with nice views into the Chamonix Valley, the Rochers de Mottets and the peaks behind it. The people managing the buvette always do an amazing job of maintaining the gardens around the buvette and there are lots of little things to discover. Drinks are being kept cool by the constant stream of melt water.

There is a short 15 minute walk that takes you to a viewing platform with views of the Mer de Glace and the little lake at the bottom of the glacier. The walk up to the Buvette is very nice with some great views. We got a detailed trail description for an easy and family friendly trail from Le Lavancher to the buvette. Dogs are welcome too.
