Chalet de Caillet

Snack Bar

Very Good

The Chalet de Caillet is a small buvette, or snackbar, located roughly half way up to Montenvers from Chamonix. The buvette has a nice, cosy intererior and a nice deck outside with views of the Chamonix Valley and across towards the Aiguilles Rouge. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and also have a snack and drinks menu. All food is prepared using a wood stove and they do what they can to minimize waste and maximize recycling. The Chalet de Caillet is open from June 1 to September 15.

The Chalet de Caillet also offers a dome tent accommodation. This is a clear plastic tent mounted on an elevated, wooden platform right next to the chalet. There is one queen bed sized bed inside and this would enable a nice night under the stars. This is only available for adults.

The Chalet de Caillet is halfway up the mountain without any public transport or lift options to easily reach it. The easiest option would be to take the Montenvers mountain train and then walk down to Caillet. This is 2.3km in length and roughly a 300 vertical meter descend. From there you can then walk down to the valley floor. We got a detailed trail description for a walk from Chamonix to Montenvers that passes the nearby Buvette des Mottets on the way up and then passes by the Chalet de Caillet on the way down.
