The Col du Brevent is a mountain pass between the Brevent and the Pointe des Vioz at an altitude of 2368 meters high above Chamonix town. The col provides excellent views south-east across the Chamonix valley towards the peaks of the Mont Blanc Massif. The northern view looks out over the Rochers de Fiz high above Servoz.
The Col du Brevent forms a three way junction. The northern trail heads towards the Refuge de Moede Anterne. On the trail marker it mentions the Chalet d'Anterne. This trail is beautiful and leads to the Passy nature reserve. The western trail heads towards the Brevent summit. The eastern trail proceeds downwards towards Planpraz. When descending from Brevent down to Planpraz, our preferred and more scenic route is to go via Col du Brevent. The alternative being to follow the ski piste. This is marked on the trail markers as Planpraz via piste.
