The Glaciers des Bossons is the iconic glacier that can be seen from the town center of Chamonix and it dominates many of the pictures you will see of Mont Blanc taken from the valley floor. The glacier fast moving and reaches down to altitude of roughly 1400 meters even in the summer months. This is due to the fast speeds at which the glacier moves which can exceed 1 meter per day in summer.

The glacier can easily be admired by taking the Lift du Glacier des Bossons from Les Bossons. There are two snack bars at different altitudes from where you can enjoy the view of the glacier: the Chalet de Glaciers des Bossons and the Chalets des Pyramides. One of the classic day hikes in Chamonix going to La Jonction passes both buvettes and also gives amazing views of both the Glaciers des Bossons and the Glacier de Taconnaz
