Grotte aux Nymphes

Rock Cave

Exceptional

The Grotte aux Nymphes is both a cave and waterfall. We also got the full description of the Cascade aux Nymphes waterfall. The cave and the waterfall are located at the end of a steep ravine carved out by the Trient river that flows through it with footbridge mounted on the side of the cliff enabling access to the site. The waterfall is beautifull with multiple levels and small pools at the bottom of each level. The cave is accessible by a staircase that takes you below the rocks into which the waterfall flows. This enables you much closer access to the bottom of the waterfall's pool and it is quite a dramatic location. The cave is strictly not a cave. Its more a series of staircases that enable you to access a pocket below the rocks that cover the upper parts of the gulley that the trient river has cut out in the surrounding rock.

The Tete Noir parking lot along the road between Chatelard and Trient is the easiest access point to the cave and the waterfall. It is roughly a 20 minute walk down to the site and a 40 minute hike up. You can either just take the same route back and forth or make it a loop by going westward towards Le Troulero.
