La Prairie is a small hotel and snack bar in the center of Les Bois roughly 4km north from Chamonix. The hotel is 4th generation family owned and operated dating all the way back to 1900 when the hotel was built by Henri Claret-Tournier. Henri's great-granddaughter Genevieve runs it today.

The hotel is located in the heart of Les Bois in a nice open area with grassy fields around the hotel. It was a wonderful large outdoor seating area and they serve snacks and light meals throughout the day. The hotel has 8 rooms acommodating 1 to 4 persons each. It is only open in the summer months from early June to the middle of September. Visit their website for more details or to make a booking.

The Hotel La Prairie is easily reachable from Chamonix in pleasant 4km walk. Nearby trails include the Petit Balcon Nord which runs between Le Tour and Chamonix. We also recommend the trail from Le Lavancher to Le Chapeau which is beautiful family friendly walk to a nice view point next to the end of the Mer de Glace. A shorter walk would be our exploration trail of the forest of Les Bois and a visit to the Source de Arveyron viewing point.
