The Lac d'Anterne is a sizeable lake located on a plateau inside the Sixt-Passy natural reserve surrounded by a circle of high peaks that feed water into the lake. These peaks include the Tete de Villy on the eastern side, the Tete de Moede on the southern side and the Tete a l'Ane on the western side. The lake has no river flowing out of it. Instead the water flows out from chasms at the bottom of the lake. The lake is set in wide grasslands with many little streams flowing into the lake.
The main trail that runs past the lake, runs between the Col d'Anterne and the Refuge Alfred Wills. This trail is part of the Tour des Fiz for which we have a detailed trail description on the site.
