The Lac Vert is a small lake located on a plateau above the Vallorcine valley to the south and Lac Vieux Emosson to the north. This lake should not be confused with the more popular, and arguably much prettier, Lac Vert near Plaine Joux above Servoz.
The lake is reachable via the Col de la Terrasse when coming from the southern direction using the trail up from the Refuge de Loriaz. From the west it be can be reached via de the Col des Corbeux and the Tre-les-Eaux valley. Lastly, there is a trail coming in from the north from Lac Emosson and Lac Vieux Emosson that connects to the Col de la Terrasse.
The lake sits at an altitude of 2600 meters. This means there will be snow cover at least until the middle of July. The earliest snow cover might come as early as the beginning of October. The way the lake is situated means that it could easily be covered by snow and there could be a danger of you accidently falling into the lake through the snow and ice cover.
Our trail which summits Mont Buet (3098m) via the Refuge de Loriaz and the Col de la Terrasse passes by Lac Vert.
