Le Planet is a very beautiful hamlet on a plateau in between Argentiere and Le Tour. The hamlet sits at an altitude of 1392m which is about 140m higher in elevation than Argentiere. It is a very small hamlet with an iconic tall white building which can be seen from quite a large distance from the Chamonix valley below. There is a large open field right in the middle with a pubic parking and there is row of houses and chalets along the ridge with Argentiere and one row of chalets along the Petit Balcon Nord towards Le Tour. Le Planet does not have any commercial establishments, hotels or restaurants. It is a pretty quiet place but that is a large part of its appeal.
Le Planet lies on a plateua at the foot of the Montagne de Peclerey. We have a trail that takes you up the Montagne de Peclerey from Le Planet. The Petit Balcon Nord is the main trail that runs through the hamlet coming from Le Tour, passing through Le Planet and continuing on to Argentiere and further down south through the valley. We have a very nice discovery trail for Argentiere and its neighboring Hamlets of which Le Planet is also a part.
Le Planet has a fairly large public parking right at the heart of the Hamlet which can be reached by driving towards Le Tour and taking a right turn towards Le Planet. The train and bus stations at Montroc double as the stations for Le Planet from where it is a 10 minute uphill walk to reach Le Planet.
