This little hidden treasure sits in the middle of Vieux Servoz on the crossing of the Rue du Vieux Servoz and the Chemin des Fours a Pain. It sits on top of a wall across from a very nice water fountain and surrounded by very old looking buildings. On first passing, especially when descending from the slopes north from Servoz, you might completely miss out on this little oratory. The oratory features a statue of Saint Bernard and the status is protected by a small metal gate. There is a little plaque on the side of the oratory.
Legend has it that in the first half of the 19th century there was a fire in old Servoz. Joseph Felisaz made a promise to erect an oratory in the glory of Saint Bernard of Menthon if the fire would spare his home. He kept that promise with the oratory you see now as the result. Apparently he had to sell a cow to come up with the funds for the building of the oratory.
As things stand, this is now officially our favorite Oratory. Lets see if we discover another one that takes the top spot!
