On March 15, 2008 two local residents of Les Houches, Pierre and Marie-Jo Trappier were caught in an avalanche as they were 50 meters below the plateau where the Baraque Forestiere des Rognes is located. The couple were well known and respected in their communities and the plaque was installed on the ridge right after completing the large climb up from Col de Mont de Lachat to the Baraque des Rognes. The plaque reads "Unis pour l’éternité" or together forever. The plaque itself is in gray metal with engraved lettering. The location is spectacular at an altitude of 2785 meters with incredible views into the Chamonix Valley and all the surrounding peaks on both sides.

We got a spectacular trail starting at the Bellevue cable car which passes by Mont Lachat and Col du Mont Lachat before climbing up to the Baraque Forestiere des Rognes. You will be passing by the monument as you reach the plateau after the large climb.
