Out and Back

The Gorges de la Diosaz is one of my favorite destinations for a short but spectacular walk with the kids. The entrance to the gorge is located on the eastern end of Servoz. The beautiful Diosaz river runs through a steep ravine with beautiful cliff sides. On those cliff sides they have built wooden foot bridges that enable you to travel deep into the ravine. These wood bridges are absolutely amazing, often overhanging the ravine and giving great views into the river and waterfalls below. The trail ends at the Cascade du Voire waterfall. That is where the trail ends and then you will take the same trail back.

There are sign posts all along the way providing historical context and stories about the sights you will see along the way. Kids will love this experience for sure and its short length makes this very suitable for even younger children. Lastly, there is a snack bar at the entrance of the gorges where you can buy pancakes and other snacks.

NOTE: The Gorges de la Diosaz are a park and you will need to pay entrance. It is not an open access trail. This trail also cannot be used for a trail run. When the park is open it will typically have a lot of visitors and the bridgeways are narrow.

Risk Considerations for this Trail

Risk Considerations & Difficulty Assessment

This route is part of the Gorges de la Diosaz park and you will need to pay an entrance fee to enter. As such you are subject to the opening dates and hours of the park. If the park is open then you can assume that the trails and bridgeways are snow free and in good condition. There is only way up to the waterfall and one way back. So there is no need to navigate. The trail and footbridges are well built and very easy. There will be a lot of staircases but other than that a very easy trail.

Trail Starting Point

Trail Starting Point

The Gorges de la Diosaz park entrance is located at the eastern side of Servoz, very near to the town center of Servoz. There is quite a large parking lot in front of the entrance to the park and another secondary parking right across from the main road. If you are coming with the train then you should stop at the Servoz train station and walk to the entrance which is probably about a 15 minute walk. There are two bus stops at the town center of Servoz near the Eglise Saint-Loup church.
