Index Chair Lift
The Index Chairlift is a 6-seater chairlift which runs from La Flegere (1882m) to to the Index (2595m). The Flegere midstation is reached using the Flegere Gondola which departs from Les Praz. The Index lift enables a traverse to the famous Lac Blanc or to the Col de la Gliere and the Col Cornu with a visit to the Lacs Noir and the Lac Cornu.
In winter, the lift is part of the Flegere ski area which also connects to the Brevent ski area. In summer, it is open from mid June to mid September. Children below 2 years old are not allowed to ride the chair lift. There is a ticket office at the ground station in Les Praz where you can buy your tickets directly before going. For exact operating dates, ticket prices and to buy your tickets online, visit the official website.
This lift was originally built in 1956 and then replaced by a three seat chairlift in 1977 and finally renovated as the current 6 seater in 2005. For a ton more historical and technical information about this lift, you can visit the French Remontee-Mechanique website.
